Become a winter person with a Winternship

To celebrate Tasmania’s Off Season, Tourism Tasmania is inviting Australians to learn how to become a winter person in Tasmania.

From baby-sitting Tasmanian devils to skippering a floating sauna, there’s an exciting and unique winter experience for every visitor.

Tourism Tasmania collaborated with tourism operators in each region to design ten ‘Winternships’, aka Winter Internships, based on the operator’s bookable Off Season offer.

The initiative is part of our strategy to set Tasmania apart as a unique winter destination and draw more attention to our Off Season experiences.

To amplify the initiative across earned and social media, Tourism Tasmania recruited Comedian, Writer and Actor, Celia Pacquola, to take on a series of Winternships to demonstrate what it really means to become a ‘winter person’.

Tourism Tasmania is also partnering with global travel company Trip.com to launch the initiative in Singapore, which is an important international visitor market for Tasmania.

Winternship applications will be available on Tourism Tasmania’s Discover Tasmania website from 27 May until 17 June 2025. Successful applicant will receive return flights to Tasmania and accommodation to undertake their Winternship.

The Off Season campaign is live across Australia until 31 August 2025.
