Introduction to tourism data and insights

Tourism Tasmania’s data and insights team shares the latest visitor data, key market insights, and emerging trends, to empower Tasmania’s tourism industry.

Regularly releasing new data and insights allows Tasmanian tourism operators to remain agile in a competitive tourism market, by responding to consumer demand and creating memorable experiences that deliver on Tasmania’s brand attributes to attract visitors to our island.

By understanding where our visitors come from, what they are seeking from our destination, and their key motivators, tourism operators can undertake their business planning and marketing with greater confidence, and maximise opportunities to leverage Tourism Tasmania’s extensive marketing activity.

This data also helps us measure how we are all tracking as an industry towards achieving the objectives of T30 (link here), our partnership between industry and government to strengthen and grow Tasmania’s visitor economy.

We acknowledge the Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their enduring custodianship of lutruwita (Tasmania).
We honour the uninterrupted care, protection and belonging to these islands, skies and waterways, before the invasion and colonisation of European settlement.
As part of a tourism industry that welcomes visitors to these lands, we acknowledge our responsibility to represent to our visitors Tasmania’s deep and complex history, fully, respectfully and truthfully.
We acknowledge the Aboriginal people who continue to care for this country today.
We pay our respects to their elders, past and present.
We honour their stories, songs, art, and culture, and their aspirations for the future of their people and these lands.
